Hosting and server logs

The site is served by GitLab Pages, operated by GitLab Inc., 268 Bush Street #350, San Francisco, CA 94104, USA, on Google Cloud infrastructure. When a page is requested, the host processes technically necessary access data: IP address, date and time, the requested address, the amount of data transferred, the status code, the referrer and the browser identification.

The purpose is delivering the site and keeping the service secure and stable. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is the technically sound operation of this website. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with GitLab.

Processing also takes place in the United States, based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

The host determines how long the log data is kept. I have no access to those logs, do not evaluate them and do not combine them with any other data.

No cookies, no tracking

This site stores no cookies and reads no information from your device, so no consent banner under § 25 TDDDG is required.

There is no audience measurement, no analytics, no profiling and no advertising network.

Fonts and images

All fonts and all images are stored on this server and served from this domain. Nothing is loaded from Google Fonts or any other network, and no third-party content delivery network is used.

Music and video content

Older notes point to music and videos on YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, Mixcloud and Bandcamp. That content is not embedded: you see a card with title, artist and thumbnail that comes entirely from this website. No connection to those providers is made unless you click the card.

Only the click takes you off this site; from that point on the provider's own privacy policy applies.

This site links to LinkedIn (LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company), to Matrix and to the key server keys.openpgp.org. These are plain links, not embedded content. Data is only transmitted once you follow such a link, and then under the terms of that provider.

Getting in touch

If you write to me, I process your address and the content of your message in order to answer it. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where a contract or its initiation is concerned, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR with the legitimate interest of answering enquiries.

My mailbox is hosted by mailbox.org (Berlin). I keep messages for as long as the matter requires, and beyond that only where statutory retention obligations apply.
